Out-of-town visitor to Groton
The USS Indianapolis (LCS-17), a Freedom-variant combat ship, passes the Historic Ship Nautilus docked at the Submarine Force Museum on its way Friday to the Naval Submarine Base in Groton.
The ship is at the base for safe harbor to avoid bad weather, Navy officials said. The ship was commissioned on Oct. 26, 2019, in Burns Harbor, Ind., and is the fourth ship to bear the name Indianapolis.
