    Three appointed to Mystic Aquarium board

    Mystic — Mystic Aquarium announced Wednesday that it has named Susan B. Pochal, Sarah Kelly and Michael Lech to its 29-member Board of Trustees.

    "Each of these three leaders bring unique areas of expertise to the Aquarium,” said Stephen Coan, the aquarium’s president and CEO. “They embody the spirit of community and have passion for our core mission of conservation, education and research.”

    Pochal is a Mystic attorney who specializes in estate planning, tax and real estate law and has practiced law for the past 34 years. 

    Kelly recently retired from Pfizer lnc. where she served as the vice president of pharmaceutical sciences and department head for the Pharmaceutical Sciences Small Molecule discipline. In 2019 the American Chemical Society awarded her the Earl B. Barnes prize for leadership in chemical research management. In 2018, she received a woman of Innovation Award from the CT Technology Council.  

    Lech, of Stonington, is the founder of READCO which oversees a portfolio of retail, entertainment, office, healthcare and industrial properties, as well as related management and development operating companies.
