Electric Boat Fire Department holds its first traditional promotion ceremony
Groton — The Electric Boat Fire Department on Tuesday held its first traditional promotion ceremony.
Department Chief Donald Farquhar was sworn in by Director of Security Eric Rommal with Farquhar's wife, Shaun, and daughter, Ailish, looking on during a promotion ceremony Tuesday at the fire department in Groton. Fire Inspector Robert Savarese Jr. also was sworn in.
Officials from other area fire departments were in attendance to show the mutual aid relationship among the departments.
The EBFD shifts now will be 24 hours on and 48 hours off, like other fire departments in the area.
