An early morning storm brought snow to the region Wednesday, prompting school closures, parking bans and businesses to delay opening.
Several families were taking advantage of the snow day, using it as an opportunity to go sledding.
Western Connecticut State University Meteorologist Gary Lessor said southeastern Connecticut saw 3 inches of snow or fewer: 3 inches in New London County, 2.3 inches in Griswold, 2.1 inches in Gales Ferry, 2 inches in Ledyard, 1.7 inches in Old Lyme and 1.3 inches in Uncasville and Niantic.
He said the next precipitation event could come on Friday night or Saturday, when heavy rains are possible.
