Groton — A cold wind could not dampen the enthusiasm of the loved ones waiting on the pier at the U.S. Naval Submarine Base for the USS Minnesota (SSN 783) to dock Friday.
The Virginia-class nuclear-powered attack submarine returned to base following a six-month deployment to the northern European theater of operations.
The Minnesota, the 10th vessel in the Virginia-class of nuclear-powered attack submarines, made port calls in Rota, Spain; Faslane, Scotland; and Haaksnservn, Norway, during the deployment.
