    Norwich clubs seek nominations for annual Norwich Native Son/Daughter Award

    Norwich — Norwich Rotary Clubs and the Norwich Woman’s City Club are seeking nominations for the 2020 Norwich Native Son/Daughter Award.

    The clubs last year honored musician and educator Charles Pikler. Past winners have included Pulitzer Prize winners, Grammy Award winners, sports standouts, doctors, teachers, military leaders, business innovators, an ambassador and even the man who invented spell check. The complete list of past honorees with biographies is at www.norwichrotary.org/native.

    Nominees must have been either born in Norwich or to parents who were residents of Norwich at the time of the nominee’s birth and lived in Norwich during most of their life through high school. Persons who were born to parents residing in a bordering town at the time of that person’s birth may also be nominated, providing they moved into Norwich before beginning first grade and continued to reside in Norwich through high school.

    Nominees must agree to receive the award in person at the Native Son/Daughter Award Luncheon in Norwich in May or June.

    The nomination form is available at the Norwich Rotary website, www.norwichrotaryevents.org. The form can be printed out and mailed or brought to a Rotary meeting or scanned and emailed to mrichardson@burnettslandscaping.com. Mail nomination forms to Norwich Native Son/Daughter Award, c/o Mary Richardson, 406 New London Road, Salem, CT 06420. Other materials, such as newspaper stories that support the nomination, can be included with the nomination form.

    The deadline for nominations is March 15.
