NFA Playshop to hold winter play Jan. 24-25
Norwich — The Norwich Free Academy Playshop will present David Ives’ “All in The Timing” on Friday, Jan. 24, and Saturday, Jan. 25, at 7 p.m. in Slater Auditorium.
“This production is a spotlight show for the new Acting 3 class, which includes 21 advanced acting students, 17 seniors and four juniors,” Philip Trostler, drama teacher and director, said in a news release announcing the performances. “Each year, this class will be responsible for our winter show, with it acting as both a final exam and a chance to showcase their skills.”
“All in The Timing” is a collection of eight inventive short plays with a focus on wordplay and comedic timing. Plays involved include:

[naviga:li]“Sure Thing,” in which a man’s attempt to meet a woman for the first time at a café is helped by the scene resetting every time either says the wrong thing.[/naviga:li]
[naviga:li]“The Universal Language,” in which a shy woman finds herself involved in a language learning class based around the invented language Unamunda.[/naviga:li]
[naviga:li]“Variations on the Death of Trotsky,” in which revolutionary Leon Trotsky is shocked when his wife finds information about his death in an encyclopedia.[/naviga:li]
[naviga:li]“Mere Mortals,” in which three blue-collar construction workers believe they are really the Lindbergh baby, the son of Czar Nicholas II and the reincarnation of Marie Antoinette.[/naviga:li]
[naviga:li]“A Singular Kind of Guy,” which is a monologue about a man who believes he actually is a typewriter.[/naviga:li]

Tickets, available at the door, are $10 for adults and $5 for students, children and seniors.
