    Groton — The USS Montpelier (SSN-765) passes the Cross Sound Ferry John H. as it is escorted through the mouth of the Thames River by the tugboat John P. Wronowski, with the Thames Towboat Company, as seen Tuesday from Eastern Point Beach.

    The Los Angeles-class submarine was returning to the Naval Submarine Base after routine operations. It was christened in 1991 and commissioned in 1993.
