Marcus Geren of Ledyard and Joshua Porterfield of Mystic have been named the February Students of the Month at Saint Bernard School. The school picks one middle-schooler and one high-schooler monthly who exhibit the Xaverian Brothers Sponsored Schools values of trust, humility, simplicity, zeal and compassion.

Geren, a sixth-grader, is a member of the school’s glee club, robotics team and middle school band. Outside of school, he plays lacrosse and helps out on his family’s farm. Teachers noted his willingness to help others who are struggling.

Porterfield, a sophomore, is a member of the soccer and indoor track teams as well as the jazz band, math honor society and chess club. He is a member of his local Boy Scout troop, and teachers said he is a conscientious and patient student.
