Gov. Ned Lamont encourages people with health care experience to volunteer

Medical volunteers are needed in the state's hospitals, nursing homes and medical facilities, according to a notice Saturday from the United Way of Connecticut.

Anyone with experience in health care is urged to register on the CTResponds! volunteer registry at ctresponds.ct.gov. The web-based volunteer management system helps to maintain a registry of volunteers' skills and credentials available, and helps communities match available resources during an emergency event, United Way explained.

In addition, the United Way said a new online resource guide is available at bit.ly/UWCTCV19. The guide provides information on topics that include financial assistance, housing, health care and insurance, food and nutrition, transportation, utilities, and emotional and family support.

There are also links to how people can volunteer and contribute.

"There is a critical need for blood donations, monetary contributions, volunteers at food programs, and more," the United Way said.

Information, executive orders and guidance related to coronavirus is available at ct.gov/coronavirus.
