    Viral Stories: April 16, 2020

It is important to establish a routine here in corona-land, I am told, so I have settled on one that works particularly well for me.

I get up in the late morning, lounge around all day, except when I am eating, which I seem to be doing more than usual, and then I go off to bed. That’s a routine, isn’t it?

Now, since the human mind can tolerate only so much lounging, I have taken to zooming around cyberspace, attending meetings of my various organizations, attending what passes for social gatherings on that magical medium and then it’s back to lounging.

Not a bad job, if you could figure out how to get someone to pay for it. I mean, those stimulus checks the government has promised to send out will only get you so far.

Having more time than usual to stare out my front window, I have noticed a lot of people walking around. A few of them don’t even have dogs. Thought of doing it myself, but then I quickly went back to lounging and the idea passed.

Been doing a lot of thinking while lounging and I have been thinking thoughts both big and small. An example of the former involves setting up an adult version of the children’s lemonade stand to serve, what else, adult beverages.

I’m gathering and transcribing family stories from parents and older family members. It is easier now to reach family members who are isolated at home and could use a phone visit.

Using voice-to-text software makes gathering and transcribing stories as easy as making a phone call.

I’m also writing down what is happening around me and how I feel about it during this historic moment. A Russian proverb states, “You live as long as you are remembered.”

What I record right now will become a cherished memory.
