    Meeting on region's transportation planning process to be held Wednesday

    The Southeastern Connecticut Council of Governments is encouraging the public to join a virtual public meeting on Wednesday regarding the transportation planning process. 

    People will have the opportunity to speak to officials from the Federal Highway Administration and the Federal Transit Administration, according to a news release. This meeting is part of a federal review that will assess compliance with federal regulations pertaining to SCCOG's planning process.

    "We are looking forward to the public's participation in this federal review of the region's transportation planning process" SCCOG Chairman Mark Nickerson, East Lyme's first selectman, said in a statement. "This process, which is undertaken every four years, is important to all of our municipalities as it results in the planning for and funding of a wide variety of future transportation projects in southeastern Connecticut."

    The meeting will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, June 10. Virtual meeting information is available at www.seccog.org.
