Local P.E.O. chapter grants scholarship

Upon recommendation by Chapter AH in East Lyme, P.E.O. has awarded the 2020 Philanthropic Educational Organization STAR Scholarship to Katarina Bromkamp of Griswold, who will be studying history and political science at UConn in the fall.

The STAR Scholarship is one of several awarded by P.E.O to support educational opportunities for women; awards of $2,500 are granted selected graduating high school seniors based on academic, extracurricular and community excellence. For more information, visit peointernational.org.

Lyme-Old Lyme students honored by CABE

Lyme-Old Lyme High School seniors Emily Balocca and Raymond Doll and Lyme-Old Lyme Middle School eighth-graders Delaney Nelson and Justin Green recently received Student Leadership Awards from the Connecticut Association of Boards of Education.

The students were honored at the June 3 Board of Education meeting. Recipients are recognized for their leadership, diplomacy, commitment and concern for others, among other skills.
