3rd annual Tour des Farms Fundraiser held as summerlong event

The 3rd Annual Tour des Farms Fundraiser is taking place as a summerlong, statewide event, so riders can enjoy going at their own pace and schedule while social distancing.

Connecticut Resource Conservation and Development, a nonprofit agriculture and environmental organization focused on sustainable communities and rural prosperity, holds the bicycle ride to benefit and promote local farms and rural businesses, while addressing food insecurity in the state.

The event, which is being held July 1 to Sept. 30, includes eight regional routes, which each feature six to 10 farms throughout the state.

“These rides aren’t just for avid cyclists — routes are listed with their level of difficulty, and each is just as fun on a motorcycle or in a car,” a news release states. “Participants can practice physical distancing guidelines while getting outside and exploring all Connecticut agriculture has to offer.”

More information about the ride, including a printable Tours des Farms Passport and a chance to win prizes, and registration details are available at tourdesfarms.org.

In lieu of the typical $75 registration fee, CT RC&D is asking participants to consider donating to the 2020 Connecticut Tour des Farms Program Fund that directly supports local farmers and communities that need it most.
