New London — The Kiwanis Club of New London has handed out three scholarships totaling $9,000 to recent high school graduates.

The three $3,000 scholarships were awarded through the N. Blake King Scholarship Endowment. A committee reviewed 38 applications from 10 area schools and chose two from Fitch High School in Groton and one from New London High School.

The awards were presented at a luncheon at Langley’s Restaurant at the Great Neck Golf Club in Waterford.

Scholarship winners are Luisanny Castillo from New London High School and Nikiah Perry and Honora Ryan from Fitch. The awards celebrate exemplary achievements, both academically and through their consistent community efforts throughout their high school careers.
