COVID-19 case closes sub base commissary

Groton — The Navy announced Monday that it has closed the commissary at the Naval Submarine Base beginning Tuesday and it will remain closed until further notice after an after-hours stocker tested positive for COVID-19.

The Navy said the closure will allow the facility to be inspected by a health team and properly sanitized. All after-hours staff at the store have been contacted, and those required to quarantine or restrict their movements have been advised.

Information on the store’s anticipated reopening will be published after the health inspection and deep cleaning.

The Navy Exchange and the satellite Navy Exchange off-base are unaffected and will remain open.

Comment threads are monitored for 48 hours after publication and then closed.
