    Griswold man named resort operations VP at Mohegan Sun

    Mohegan Sun has announced the promotion of Dan Webster of Griswold, who has been with Mohegan Sun since its inception, most recently helping to implement the casino’s reopening plan, to senior vice president of resort operations.

    Webster will oversee the casino’s engineering, transportation, food & beverage, hotel, environmental services and security departments.

    “I couldn’t be more proud about the new chapter in Dan’s career,” said Jeff Hamilton, president and general manager at Mohegan Sun, in a statement. “Dan has been such a vital leader and experienced professional in his 20-plus years at Mohegan Sun. ... I know he will be a major part of steering Mohegan Sun to continued success in the future.”

    Webster began as a HVAC mechanic and later rose to HVAC supervisor, central plant manager, director and chief engineer. He most recently served as vice president of facility operations.

    In his new role, Webster will lead hundreds of employees. He also will be involved in planning new ventures of Mohegan Sun’s parent company, Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment.

    Webster, a graduate of New England Institute of Technology in Rhode Island, lives his wife and two sons. He is a member of the Town of Griswold’s finance board.

    Stonington Garden Club names 2020-21 board

    The Stonington Garden Club has announced its executive board for the 2020-21 membership year. Deborah Dodds will serve as president, with Kirby Williams as first vice president and membership and Carole Barnard as second vice president and programs. Diana Beck will serve as recording secretary, Jill Corr will serve as corresponding secretary, and Laura Metzger will serve as treasurer.

    "I am very honored to assume the role of president of this venerable Stonington organization and to work with this amazing group of dedicated volunteers," Dodds, who has been a member since 2015, said in a release. "During these uncertain times, we will continue to support our community with grants and horticultural projects, such as the COMO Children's Garden, the Lighthouse Garden, flower beds and the rain garden on Wayland's Wharf."

    Norwich-based attorney named state 'Super Lawyer'

    Attorney Robert W. Clark of Waterford has been selected again this year for inclusion in the 2020 Connecticut Super Lawyers listing.

    Clark has practiced law with the firm of Costa & Clark in Norwich since 1985. He is currently serving on the board of the New London County Bar Association and is currently the president of the organization.
