Norwich Fire Department offers free smoke detector batteries Saturday

Norwich — Norwich Fire and Emergency Services departments will offer free batteries for smoke and carbon monoxide detectors from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.

The giveaway, sponsored by Energizer Batteries, is part of the “change the clocks, change the batteries” campaign urging residents to change smoke and carbon monoxide detector batteries. Clocks are to be set back one hour for the start of Standard Time Sunday morning.

Up to four free batteries per Norwich household will be given away from 9 a.m. to noon, or until supplies last, in a drive-thru or walk-up distribution at the Emergency Management Department, 10 McKinley Ave. The program is open to Norwich residents only.
