Postal Service to conduct drive-thru job fair Wednesday in Norwich

Norwich — Post offices will be closed Wednesday and there won’t be mail delivery on the Veterans’ Day national holiday, but in Norwich, the Postal Service will be busy with a no-contact, drive-thru job fair from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 40 Wisconsin Ave. in the Norwich business park.

The Norwich Post Office is looking to hire about 100 temporary workers to handle the upcoming increased volumes of mail during the holiday season. Nationwide, between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day, 11.5 billion to 12.5 billion total pieces of mail and packages are expected to be processed and delivered, the Postal Service wrote in a news release announcing the hiring event.

Postal positions available at this drive-thru event are mail handler assistant positions, with a salary starting at $16.55 per hour. Work includes loading, unloading and moving bulk mail.
