Two more people at Niantic Center School test positive for COVID-19

East Lyme — East Lyme Public Schools was notified Thursday that two additional members of the Niantic Center School community tested positive for the coronavirus, Superintendent Jeffrey Newton said in a letter to staff, parents and guardians. He didn't specify if the community members are students, teachers or staff.

The school will remain open for all staff and students Friday.

According to Newton, these two individuals were last in the school on Nov. 10. He said they have been told to remain home in self-isolation and have been provided with instructions to follow before returning.

"Contact tracing has been completed regarding this case," the superintendent wrote. "Anyone who is considered a 'close contact' with the infected individuals will be contacted by the school or local health officials and will be provided with instructions on the appropriate steps to take."
