Groton Town offices remain open by appointment only

Groton — Town offices will remain closed to walk-ins and are open only by advanced appointment until further notice.

“The reason for the closure is to do our part to help limit the COVID-19 transmission rates by monitoring the number of people visiting the facilities at any given time,” according to a notice from the town. Between Dec. 13 and Dec. 26, Groton had 242 new positive COVID-19 cases, according to data from Ledge Light Health District. The percentage of positive molecular and antigen tests was 6.5%.

The town said there are exceptions to the appointment-only rule, including: the transfer station will remain open; Senior Center Grab N’ Go meals and medical transports will continue; Community Center Tree House Full Day Distance Learning Program will be open; Parks and Recreation, Senior Center and Groton Public Library will continue virtual programs.

The library is closed, but curbside pickup, book drop, and digital services will be available. The phone lines and curbside pickup will be open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Thursday; 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The library will be closed this Saturday, Jan. 9, due to COVID-19 impact on staffing.

Tax payments can be mailed to 45 Fort Hill Road, paid online at www.groton-ct.gov or made in person via appointment.

Documents for Town Hall offices, other than tax payments, can be dropped in the green box located between the USPS mailbox and the UPS drop-box in front of Town Hall. Documents for Town Hall Annex offices can be dropped in the drop-box of the Annex vestibule.

Information on what services are available can be found at www.groton-ct.gov.
