Mohegan — A mass COVID-19 vaccination site will open Friday in Mohegan Sun’s Earth Expo & Convention Center, according to a joint announcement Thursday by Gov. Ned Lamont, the Mohegan Tribe and Yale New Haven Health.

The clinic will operate on an appointment-only basis, weather permitting, and will be available for all Connecticut residents. It is expected to serve up to 300 people on the first day of operations, and will accommodate additional appointments as the federal government makes more of the vaccine available.

Connecticut residents who are currently eligible to be vaccinated can schedule an appointment at the clinic by visiting www.ynhhs.org/covidvaccine and selecting Mohegan Sun as the location. Appointments also will be available through the state’s COVID Vaccine Appointment Assist Line (877-918-2224), which is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week.

"This latest mass vaccination site shows the coordinated effort our state is making with our tribal partners, and our partners in health care,” Lamont said in a statement. “The Mohegan Tribe has taken incredible steps throughout the pandemic to keep its members and residents safe through standing up testing sites, the distribution of PPE, and coordination with the Connecticut Department of Public Health. We will get through this pandemic by working together, especially in vaccine distribution, and that’s exactly what this site represents.”

Under the current phase of Connecticut’s vaccination program, individuals aged 65 and over are eligible to be vaccinated. The rollout of the vaccine soon will expand to include more eligible groups. For updates, visit ct.gov/covidvaccine. 

Hartford HealthCare and the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe have announced plans to open a mass vaccination site at the tribe’s Foxwoods Resort Casino on March 8.
