Norwich seed and plant swap to be held Sundays in March

Norwich — The 2021 Norwich Area Seed and Plant Swaps will be held from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. every Sunday in March at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 248 Broadway.

The Connecticut Master Gardener Program is offering a free seed program through a partnership with Ocean State Job Lot with distribution coming soon. In the meantime, there are more than 100 seed packets two or more years old with plenty of life and growth potential.

Now is a good time to start growing plants from seeds in plastic milk or water jugs to start sprouts. Successful examples can be found on the Norwich Plant Swap Facebook page, facebook.com/NorwichPlantSwap.

The rules for the 2021 Norwich Area Plant Swap include a mandate to wear masks. No product or plant sales will be allowed. Plants and seeds may be given away or traded. Participants do not have to bring plants or seeds to trade.

Plants do not need to be potted. Plants can be traded in newspaper, paper cups, take-out containers, boxes, bags, envelopes or any other carry convenience. Swap organizers are not responsible for supplying trunk or back seat liners or other plant equipment or supplies.
