Waterford Public Library: Two revolutionary talks coming

The author of “Washington-Rochambeau Revolutionary Route and the Franco-American Alliance” will talk about her book.

Discussions about the tiny home movement and a statewide historic trail will be among the events sponsored in the next few weeks by Waterford Public Library.

At 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 27, the library will host Donna Passmore, co-author of “Washington-Rochambeau Revolutionary Route and the Franco-American Alliance,” in a Zoom event that will discuss Connecticut’s first National Historic Trail covering 120 miles throughout the state.

The route was utilized in the largest allied troop movement in the Revolutionary War. The Washington-Rochambeau march was a pivotal point in American history as thousands of French soldiers and sailors joined the battle.

Author Donna Passmore is a founding director of Values Through History, an organization that supports the teaching of upper elementary students in civic principles and behavior with a focus on the Revolutionary War and other founding periods in American history. She will be presenting from Houston, Texas.

To register for this free Zoom event, go to the library’s website and look for the Calendar of Events. For more information, you may contact Donna Passmore at d.passmore@valuesthroughhistory.org or via www.valuesthroughhistory.org.

The other library event will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 10, featuring California-based speakers Lindsay Wood, CEO of Experience Tiny Homes, and Dan Fitzpatrick, president of Tiny Home Industry Association.

Wood, along with her husband Eric, have lived the Tiny House dream since 2007. Her organization (www.experiencetinyhomes.org) helps educate others about the steps to take to own a tiny home. Fitzpatrick (www.tinyhomeindustryassociation.org) supports tiny home industry regulation changes and promotes best practices in the construction.
