David Kozora of Stonington has been promoted to vice president and senior SBA underwriter at People’s Bank.

In his new role, Kozora will continue to underwrite Small Business Administration loans, train staff,

standardize underwriting practices and recommend loan structure to the bank’s loan officers.

“David has spearheaded the bank’s move to delegated approval for most SBA loan requests,” Dennis Ammann, People’s president and chief executive, said in a release.

“This has allowed us to serve our customers better by expediting loan requests and growing our SBA Department’s efficiency.”

Kozora earned his Bachelor of Arts in Business Economics from Providence College and subsequently his Master of Business Administration, with emphasis on Finance, from Bentley College.

He began his banking career in 1994 with The Washington Trust Company until 2003, at which time he became owner and president of PNEWBI, LLC, a consulting business focused on commercial loan underwriting and loan portfolio management.
