Poetry in a Pandemic: Welcoming the new year
It’s time for us to say goodbye
To a year so full of conflict.
Let’s welcome in the future
Enough of being kicked.
Though sickness, death and sadness
Plagued us all throughout;
Let’s open our minds and arms and hearts
And embrace it with a shout.
Who says we’re down and can’t get up
Why be so negative?
Let’s show them just how much we’ve got
There’s so much we can give.
We have our family, friends and love
Memories and much much more.
Let’s band together and use our strength
Shove the old right out that door.
Looking forward with so much hope
This too we will survive.
Let’s raise our heads and open our eyes
So smile, enjoy and come alive!
