New London — City officials will join with representatives of a major city developer on Thursday to celebrate the opening of The Docks, a 137-unit apartment complex at Bank and Howard streets.

The new complex was completed by A.R. Building Co., which intends to immediately start work on a new 86-unit project called Mansfield II on Georgetown Road.

Thursday’s ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 11 a.m., followed by a groundbreaking to kick off construction on Georgetown Road.

“The city is extremely grateful for both projects and pleased that they will elevate the city of New London by drawing more people to the city and the downtown area,” New London Mayor Michael Passero said. “New London is an extraordinary city. As this new housing leases up, the city is demonstrating that we’re a fabulous place to live, work and raise a family.”
