Region can expect high heat and humidity for the next two days

With the National Weather Service issuing a heat advisory for New London County through Wednesday, the city is working with the New London Public Library to establish a cooling center there on Tuesday from noon to 6 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

High temperatures and oppressive humidity expected to remain in place through Wednesday with temperatures in the 90s and heat index values of up to 102 for some parts of the county. Gov. Ned Lamont has advised residents, particularly those who are most vulnerable, to take precautions.

Other cooling centers are opening across Connecticut. Anyone in need of a place to get out of the heat can locate their nearest cooling center by calling 2-1-1 or going to www.211ct.org
