Waterford opens online survey for 'town center' ideas

Waterford — The town is asking residents to use an online survey to submit their ideas and recommendations for development of a "town center."

The survey will be available until 1 p.m. on Aug. 16 on the Facebook pages of First Selectman Rob Brule and the Waterford Recreation and Parks Department.

The town center will consist of the Civic Triangle duck pond, library, historic green and the Veterans Field playground and gazebo.

A committee consisting of representatives from the Waterford Library, Recreation and Parks Commission, and Representative Town Meeting have selected Kent + Frost Landscape Architecture of Mystic to design the pathways and boardwalk around the pond, and now are seeking input from residents.

The short survey asks respondents to rank what they would like to see at the center from most important to least important, such as lighting around the pond, improved parking, and a coffee shop at Jordan Park House.

There will also be a table at the Art in Waterford event Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., where residents can submit their ideas. Suggestions can also be emailed to firstsel@waterfordct.org.

Comment threads are monitored for 48 hours after publication and then closed.
