Groton — They're not exactly reservoir dogs, but they were having a ball.

Resident Jake Dougherty was throwing tennis balls in a lagoon for his dogs, Diesel and Nala, and his brother's dog, Honey, to fetch to cool them off Thursday in the Groton Long Point neighborhood.

The region is in the midst of a heat wave.
