Groton library to hold Bumpers & Books Halloween event Saturday

Groton — The Junior Friends of the Groton Public Library is inviting people to the sixth annual Bumpers & Books, "a festive twist on a traditional trunk-or-treat event" on Saturday.

The event takes place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the library's back parking lot at 52 Newtown Road in Groton. It is free and open to the public.

"The car trunks are decorated in book- and author-related themes and will have activities for the children such as crafts and tattoos, and vendors and a book sale for adults," a news release states. "All of the vehicles will be decorated to celebrate a beloved book or author. Children are encouraged to dress in book-themed costumes to add to the festivities. There will be crafts, face painting, and tattoos for children as well as sale items for adults."

The rain date is 11 a.m. Oct. 23.
