Free vaccine, booster clinic to be held Friday in Groton

Groton — Ledge Light Health District is hosting a free COVID-19 vaccination clinic Friday.

It will be held from noon to 4 p.m. at the Groton Municipal Building, 295 Meridian St. The health district will offer Johnson & Johnson and Moderna for first and second shots as well as booster shots for anyone 18 or older.

For those who received Pfizer or Moderna, people who are severely immunocompromised can get their booster as early as one month after their second dose, whereas all others 18 or older can get their booster six months after their second dose. For those who got a J&J shot, a booster is recommended for everyone 18 or older starting two months after their original dose.

Both the Food and Drug Administration and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention "support individuals to receive a booster dose that is a different vaccine type than they originally received," a release from LLHD reads.

Visit LLHD.org to make a vaccine appointment or call LLHD at (860) 448-4882 for assistance.
