Mohegan Sun to host free vaccination clinics

Uncasville — The Mohegan Tribe is partnering with the Connecticut Department of Public Health, Griffin Health and the Uncas Health District to host free vaccination clinics for state residents.

The walk-in clinics will take place every Wednesday starting Dec. 15 through Jan. 5, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Mohegan Sun's Seasons Buffet in Casino of the Earth.

Uncas Health District will host its clinic at the Season Buffet on Monday, Dec. 20, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Primary shots and boosters will be available to all eligible age groups.

The clinics are beginning as the state's daily positive results have once again topped 8% and the state has reported multiple cases of the omicron variant.

Gov. Ned Lamont and state health officials have been consistent in urging residents to get the vaccine and to receive their booster shot if more than six months have passed since their first two doses. DPH has reported that those who remain unvaccinated are five times more likely to test positive for COVID-19 and have a 16 times greater risk of dying of the disease.

"Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Mohegan Tribe has worked to positively impact the health of not only our Tribal members, but our Connecticut neighbors as well," said James Gessner Jr., chairman of the Mohegan Tribe. "Those efforts have included extensive health and safety measures for our employees and guests, as well as key partnerships to help improve access to COVID testing and vaccines. These new clinics with the State of Connecticut, Griffin Health, and the Uncas Health District are another important step in that work."

All individuals attending the clinics must always wear a mask and bring their driver's license or nondriver photo identification card, and a copy of their vaccination card if applicable. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to receive the vaccination or booster.

Those with questions may contact the respective agencies: Department of Public Health at 1 (800) 203-1234 or Uncas Health District at (860) 823-1189.
