New London Human Services seeks proposals for use of ARPA funds

New London — The city’s Human Services Department is seeking proposals for a portion of the city’s second round of federal funding through the American Rescue Plan Act.

Nonprofit organizations along with businesses, hospitals, schools and other organizations are being encouraged to apply. For those interested in applying, the request for proposals and associated materials is posted at www.newlondonct.org.

A workshop will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the Public Library of New London to discuss the request for proposals. Questions can be submitted to Human Services Director Jeanne Milstein at jmilstein@newlondonct.org by May 18. The city will post answers to the questions on its website by May 20.

Milstein said the city is looking for ideas that promote healing and access to well being across the community. Her department will receive an undetermined portion of the city’s $26 million in ARPA funds.

“The focus is on neighbors helping neighbors, peer-support, and similar approaches. This funding is an opportunity to reimagine how to support those hardest hit in the community by creating an environment that supports well being for everyone,” Milstein said.
