The Avalonia Land Conservancy is sponsoring a photo contest to increase awareness about local water resources.

“Avalonia’s 4,500-plus acres act as filters and buffers as flooding occurs during storms and sea levels rise,” according to a release. “We have all taken pictures of good, bad and ugly water with our cell phones, drones and cameras. Now, Avalonia would like to share these photos with everyone.”

To do so, post on Avalonia’s Instagram page (instagram.com/avalonialandconservancy/) or upload them on its website (avalonia.org/photo-contest/).

Three winners will be recognized, Best “Good Water” photo (ponds, wetlands, protective shoreline, vernal pools, etc.), Best “Bad Water” photo (crushing waves, flooded streets, breached storm walls, eco damage, etc.), and Best “Avalonia” photo (a stream, brook, pond or body of water on an Avalonia property).

The contest will run through Aug. 15. Winners will be announced on Sept. 5. Each winner will receive a gift basket with Avalonia swag and a gift certificate worth as much as $100. One winner will have a photo of the cover of Avalonia’s fall newsletter.
