    Let's Go: Early Music celebrates 40th anniversary

    The Connecticut Early Music Society celebrates its 40th anniversary season and returns to the live stage with a series of six events at its annual festival from June 10-12 and 17-19. Here is the schedule:

    Friday, June 10; 7:30 p.m., Noank Baptist Church, 18 Cathedral Heights, Noank: All-Bach program featuring Concerto for Oboe and Violin in C Minor.

    Saturday, June 11; 7:30 p.m., St. John’s Episcopal Church, Niantic: J.S. Bach Goldberg Variations performed by harpsichordist Peter Sykes.

    Sunday, June 12; 5 p.m., George Kent Performance Hall, Westerly: “A Restoration MacBeth,” a 1664 entertainment featuring actors, singers and dancers performing Sir William Davenant’s adaptation of ‘the Scottish play,’ with music by Henry Purcell, Matthew Locke and John Eccles.

    Friday, June 17; 7:30 p.m., The Red Barn at Mitchell College, New London: “Schubertiade: A Re-creation of a musical evening in Schubert’s home,” featuring the Sonatina in D for Violin and Fortepiano, selected Schubert lieder and Beethoven’s song cycle “An Die Ferne Geliebte.”

    Saturday, June 18; 10 a.m. to noon, St. John’s Episcopal Church, Niantic: Recorder workshop and demonstration with Emily O’Brien.

    Sunday, June 19; 7:30 p.m., Evans Hall at Connecticut College, New London: All-Mozart program featuring Symphony No. 40 and the Requiem mass.

    Tickets are $40 each or $165 for all five concerts. Student tickets are $15 or $60 for five concerts. The Recorder Workshop is $20, free for children under 14. To purchase tickets, visit ctearlymusic.org or call (860) 333-8504.
