Attractions statewide offer free admission and special events Saturday for Connecticut Open House Day
The 18th annual Connecticut Open House Day is happening Saturday, with more than 200 tourist attractions across the state offering free or reduced admission, or special offers, to Connecticut residents.
This is the first time in two years that all offerings are fully in person.
According to the Connecticut Office of Tourism, which organizes the event, offerings include free or reduced admission at more than 60 attractions, special offers and events at more than 85 attractions, and free tours at more than 25 attractions, including theaters and venues not normally open to the public, as well as vineyards and breweries.
"Connecticut Open House Day is the perfect opportunity to discover or rediscover Connecticut's rich history, arts & culture scene, outdoor recreation experiences, and so much more, as we kickoff an exciting summer season," office Director Noelle Stevenson said in a news release.

Connecticut residents can watch traditional blacksmithing or try their hand at corn grinding or butter churning at the Lebanon Historical Society Museum, visit the apartment where James Merrill lived at the James Merrill House in Stonington, take a picture with a historic paper moon photo prop or do a scavenger hunt at the Avery-Copp House Museum in Groton, take a discounted $5 ride on the Thames River Heritage Park water taxi, get a free souvenir with admission at Mystic Seaport Museum, and much more.
