Stonington Fourth of July parade will be held Monday

Stonington — The Stonington Historical Society will hold its annual Fourth of July parade at 10 a.m. Monday in the borough.

The parade is sponsored by Dime Bank and the Borough of Stonington.

The parade will begin at 10 a.m. at the southwest corner of Wadawanuck Square. People are invited to join the informal parade as it proceeds to Cannon Square and then back to Wadawanuck Square. Candy Sanford, a volunteer with organizations such as the historical society and the Stonington Garden Club, will serve as the parade grand marshal.

After the parade ends, members of the Stonington Garden Club will do the traditional reading of the Declaration of Independence. The crowd then will "cast a pox" on King George III after the reading.
