    Children’s author Janae Marks to appear in Waterford

    The Waterford Public Library is inviting all to an engaging presentation by popular children’s author Janae Marks on Wednesday, Aug. 3 at 6 p.m. Marks will speak about her life and what inspired her to write and illustrate her novels, “From the Desk of Zoe Washington” and “A Soft Place to Land.”

    “From the Desk of Zoe Washington” is a 2023 Connecticut Nutmeg Book Award nominee for readers in grades 4-6. There will be an opportunity to ask questions, meet the author and get a book signed.

    The library’s bookseller partner, Bank Square Books, will be on-site to sell the author’s books.

    Janae Marks is an author of middle grade novels. Her debut “From the Desk of Zoe Washington” is an indie bestseller and was named a “Best Book of the Year” by Parents Magazine, Book Riot, Kirkus Reviews, Booklist, Chicago Public Library and the Boston Globe.

    Her second novel is “A Soft Place to Land.” She has an MFA in Writing for Children from The New School, and lives in Connecticut with her husband, daughter and miniature schnauzer named Cookie. Learn more about her at janaemarks.com.
