A water main shut down in the area between Colman Street and Mike’s Harley Davidson at 951 Bank St. will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday.

The shutdown, announced by Veolia Water, is projected to last eight hours but may be longer as required to facilitate the repairs being made. Veolia has recommended residents in the area prepare for the shutdown to last until 6 a.m. on Friday by filling containers with water for drinking, cooking and sanitary purposes.

Veolia will drop off one case of water at each affected residence prior to the shutdown. Those residents were noticed of the expected shutdown 10 days ago.
