Salem seeks to fill school board vacancy

Salem ― The Salem school district has announced a vacancy on its Board of Education.

The term will extend through the 2023 municipal election. It was vacated by Republican Maura Gibbons Rehrig, who was elected in November 2021.

There are currently five Republicans and three Democrats on the school board. Based on minority representation rules outlined in the town charter, up to six members may be from the same party.

The school district said in a news release that anyone interested in being considered for appointment to the school board should complete the application and submit a Letter of Interest to Jennifer Kayser, the executive assistant to Superintendent of Schools Brian Hendrickson.

The application is available online at www.salemschools.org. Applications are due by Aug. 11, with interviews held on Aug. 15.

For more information, call Kayser at (860) 892-1223 x3201.
