    Volunteers to clean up Lowthorpe Meadow in Norwich Saturday

    Norwich ― Volunteers will spend Saturday morning cleaning and making improvements to the Lowthorpe Meadow open space in Norwichtown from 9 a.m. to noon.

    Members of the 15-member Lowthorpe Meadow Board of Directors and other volunteers will gather at 9 a.m. at the meadow pond behind the Edward and Mary Lord Family Health Center, at 47 Town St. Volunteers are asked to park in the center parking lot.

    Participants are asked to bring gloves, trash bags and insect repellent. The cleanup will be held rain or shine.

    Lowthorpe Meadow is an 18-acre tract of land between Town and Washington Streets. Donated as public open space by the Gilman sisters in 1905, Lowthorpe Meadow is one of the earliest conservation properties in the state.
