Mohegan listed among Newsweek’s ‘most loved’ workplaces

Mohegan ― Newsweek, the digital news organization that grew out of the venerable magazine of the same name, has ranked Mohegan 68th on its annual list of the “Top 100 Most Loved Work Places” in the United States.

Mohegan ― Mohegan Sun’s corporate parent ― owns and/or manages gaming and entertainment resorts in the United States and Canada and is developing one in South Korea. It also owns the WNBA’s Connecticut Sun.

The list is the product of Newsweek’s collaboration with Best Practice Institute, a leadership development and research company, and is based on the results of a survey of more than 1.4 million employees of businesses with workforces ranging in size from 50 to more than 10,000 workers.

“Employees say a culture of respect guides everything at this Connecticut gambling giant,” Newsweek’s listing says of Mohegan. “Its career development program seems to be a good thing too.”

According to the listing, Mohegan has 11,173 employees.

"It's all about the team member experience,” Patricia Smith, Mohegan’s chief human resources officer, said in a news release. “When we take care of our team members, they take care of our guests ― it's a simple formula that comes with profound results."

How workers feel about their future at a company, their career achievement and how closely their employer’s values align with their own were among the areas the survey gauged. Respect for all employees and the level of collaboration within a company also were considered. In addition, inclusion, diversity, equity and belonging, and company response and adaptability to the COVID-19 pandemic were analyzed and measured, according to Mohegan.

"The work culture demonstrated at Mohegan is meticulously guided by the Spirit of Aquai, which represents our way of being welcoming, cooperative, building relationships and having mutual respect for others,” Ray Pineault, Mohegan’s president and chief executive officer, said. “As a Mohegan team member myself for more than 20 years, I'm truly honored that our team can feel how much we value them and their constant hard work."

Dell Technologies of Round Rock, Texas, ranked first in Newsweek’s listing.
