Groton schedules public meeting on parks and recreation master plan

Groton ―The Town of Groton has retained BerryDunn, a consulting firm with offices in Hartford and New Haven, to create a comprehensive parks and recreation master plan.

The town is now seeking public input on the plan, which will serve as a blueprint for planning and maintaining its system of parks, recreation, open space, trails, and facilities.

Residents are invited to participate in person or virtually at the first public meeting on the master plan scheduled from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10 at Thrive55+ (formerly the Groton Senior Center) at 102 Newtown Road, or via Zoom at www.zoom.us; Webinar ID: 833 1716 0042, Passcode: 260982.

Both in person and virtual attendees will be given the opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback.

According to a news release from the Parks & Recreation Department, BerryDunn’s project team will help continue the department’s vision for Groton to be “a community where everyone feels welcome and included, and has opportunity to live, work and play in a healthy environment.”

People can contact Director of Parks and Recreation Mark Berry at (860) 536-5680 or MBerry@groton-ct.gov if they have questions in advance of the meeting.

Comment threads are monitored for 48 hours after publication and then closed.
