Star Bridge, by artist D Derek, is 10-foot-high, 13-foot-wide outdoor installation made of aluminum, steel wire, LED lighting and over 700 acrylic and glass crystals. D Derek’s artistic study focuses on social sculpture and community engage practice. The wire construction is inspired by the invention of suspension bridges. Bridges are constructed for the purpose of providing passage over obstacles and bringing communities together; the metaphor brings to mind the search within all of us for a common bond.

The public project is commissioned by the Ocean Community Chamber of Commerce and can be seen alongside the Pawcatuck Bridge at Donahue Park through January.
