Waterford Day Parade will be held Saturday

Waterford ― More than 30 state and local groups are scheduled to participate in Saturday’s Waterford Day Parade.

Participants will include Waterford Community Food Bank, Carelot Children’s Center, the Harbor Management Commission, Waterford High School Cheer, Waterford Police Honor Guard and St. Edmund’s Pipe and Drum, to name a few.

The parade will start at 10 a.m. at Waterford High School and travel west on Rope Ferry Road, where it will end at the corner of North Road. Police said drivers should expect delays on surrounding roads.

Rope Ferry Road will be closed between Boston Post Road and North Road. Traffic will be impacted or diverted on Great Neck Road, Avery Lane, Rope Ferry Road and North Road.

“The parade usually lasts a little over an hour, but we will keep the roads closed a bit longer so people can safely walk back to where they parked or to the green for the after-parade entertainment,” Police Chief Marc Balestracci said Wednesday.

During and after the parade, there will be a farmer’s market at the Waterford Community Center, music, food, a rock wall and petting zoo at Jordan Green and balloon twisters and face painting at the pond.

Parking will be available at Town Hall, the high school and police department.
