Montville ― A Griswold real estate broker and construction company owner is seeking to build 13 homes on a 31-acre parcel at 970 Colchester Road.

Zachary Wood, of Woodco Properties, purchased the land for $270,500 last year, according to town records. Wood said Tuesday he hopes to begin clearing the site by the end of the summer.

At Tuesday’s Planning and Zoning Commission meeting, commissioners accepted Wood’s application for a re-subdivision of the parcel that will split it up into 13 building lots. A portion of the land will be conserved, Wood said.

As part of the application, Wood had to submit a “conceptual plan showing the lot is buildable.” There are no formal plans for the buildings at this time.

Wood said Wednesday the houses are going to be a mix of 1,800-square-foot raised ranches and 1,600-square-foot colonial-style homes.

The commission scheduled a public hearing on the re-subdivision for May 28. The commission will then decide whether to approve the application.
