Black Wolves head to Philadelphia on a high note

For a team coming off a loss, the New England Black Wolves have a lot to be cheerful about headed into Saturday night's game at Philadelphia (7 p.m.)

The Wolves (7-4) found out Friday that leading scorer Callum Crawford had a six-game suspension reduced to two — one each for a match penalty incurred on Feb. 24 and for being a repeat offender — meaning he's eligible to return for next week's matchup with Rochester.

Also, New England would clinch its fourth straight playoff berth with a win Saturday and a Calgary win over Rochester. A victory by the Black Wolves would also eliminate Philly (2-10) from playoff consideration.

New England, which moved the franchise to Mohegan Sun Arena from Philadelphia, and Philadelphia are self-proclaimed rivals. They split a two-game series earlier in the season, with the Wings winning 14-10 Saturday night in Philly and the Wolves making up for it with a 17-11 victory the following afternoon.

Without Crawford, New England is led by Stephan Leblanc (20 goals, 43 assists, 63 points), Tyler Digby (19 goals, 40 assists, 59 points) and Reilly O'Connor (21 goals, 34 assists, 55 points). O'Connor had a hat trick with two assists in the loss to Vancouver, which snapped a three-game winning streak for the Wolves.

The Wings are led by Kiel Matisz with 19 goals and 38 assists for 57 points.
