    Local college roundup: Boker leads UConn to victory in field hockey

    Storrs — Svea Boker scored two goals and had an assist as No. 3 UConn beat No. 22 Old Dominion 6-2 in a Big East Conference field hockey game on Friday.

    Marie Auer, Maddy Wray and Claire Jandewerth also scored, Sophie Hamilton had three assists and Lindsay Dickinson and Antonia Tiedtke had an assist each for the Huskies (8-1, 2-0). Cheyenne Sprecher made five saves for UConn. 

    Men's tennis

    • Chris Lansing and Lucas Arora became the first Coast Guard players since 2015 to pick up a victory at the ITA Championships as they registered a win in doubles action at Colby College. Lansing and Arora beat Nandish Shah and Alexander Comerchero from UMass-Boston 8-4. In singles action, Banks Evans lost the first match of his collegiate career losing 6-2, 6-4 to Zach Lieb of Wesleyan while Arthur Wicke dropped a 6-1, 6-3 decision to Andre Libnic.

    Women's volleyball

    • Witchney Clersainville had 20 kills and Erica Prindle added 37 assists and 14 digs as SUNY Delhi beat Mitchell on Thursday night 17-25, 27-25, 25-22, 25-22. Lexi Hubbard had 39 kills and 12 digs, Olivia DeLoach had 13 kills and 18 digs, and Cameron Childs had 30 digs for Mitchell (5-6).

    College golf

    • Mitchell College finished second in a four-team match on Thursday at Shennecossett Golf Course in Groton. Dean College won with 331 with Mitchell at 343. Michael Dietz of Eastern Nazarene was the medalist with a 75 followed by Mitchell's Nick Knisel at 78. Mitchell also got an 87 from Michael Izzo, an 88 from Michael McCarthy and Christopher Ronzello shot a 90.
