    Local colleges: No. 3 UConn field hockey team beats No. 10 Delaware 3-0

    Storrs — Svea Boker scored her team-leading 12th goal as No. 3 UConn defeated No. 10 Delaware 3-0 on Sunday in a college field hockey game.

    Boker, a senior, also had an assist for the Huskies (12-2) while freshman Claire Jandewerth and junior Kourtney Kennedy scored the other goals, senior Antonia Tiedtke had two assists and Vivienne Tucker also had an assist.

    Jandewerth and Kennedy scored off penalty corners.

    Goalie Cheyenne Sprecher made four saves for her eighth shutout of the season as UConn outshot the Blue Hens (8-3) 11-8.

    "We always love a shutout," UConn coach Nancy Stevens said. "Our defense was sound, and we gave up just one defensive penalty corner, which is a huge accomplishment and certainly a path to victory.

    "The three goals were brilliant goals. Each was so special and right now we're in a good place."

    • Bowdoin College, ranked No. 6 in Division III defeated Connecticut College 5-0 on Saturday in a New England Small College Athletic Conference match in New London. The Polar Bears are 10-1, 6-1. Jackie Mountford made three saves and Andi McGraw seven in goal for the Camels (2-8, 0-7).

    Women's soccer

    • UConn completed a home sweep of Texas schools with a 1-0 victory over SMU in an American Athletic Conference match at Dillon Stadium in Hartford. The Huskies (6-7-1, 2-4), who beat Houston 2-1 on Thursday, scored the game's only goal in the 78th minute when Cara Jordan scored her first career goal on a cross from Kess Elmore. Goalie Randi Palacios made sixth saves to register her second shutout of the season. SMU is 8-4-1, 1-3.
